Berugite Dojo Shorin Ryu

As a dojo, we practice traditional Okinawan Karate, specifically Shorin-Ryu. We are officially affiliated with Ryukyukan, an organization deeply rooted in Kobayashi-style Karate, full-contact karate, and Kobudo. While our roots remain firmly planted in tradition, we maintain an open mind, welcoming insights and learning from other martial arts and disciplines to complement our practice.

Our approach to training has been shaped by a lifelong exploration of martial arts. Before focusing primarily on Shorin-Ryu, I spent many years practicing Shito-Ryu Karate in Belgium. Over the years, I have also had the privilege to train and learn within diverse traditions around the world. 

Most notably, my training visits to Okinawa allowed me to practice in several traditional dojos and experience firsthand the different ancestral approaches to the art. These global perspectives continue to deeply influence the way I understand, practice, and teach Shorin-Ryu today.

Ultimately, I still see myself as a student of martial arts—always learning, questioning, and seeking to deepen my understanding. These collective experiences are part of the lifelong path that has brought us to where we are today, and they continue to inspire the way we train together in our dojo.
